Who am I? And what is PsychoRose?

I am Sara Hasani. An Albanian from Kosovo. A 22 year old student studying in Ibn Haldun University in Istanbul BA degree in Psychology. Also a young writer. This blog is combining my interests and the things that I love. From writings and travelling to exploring the world in many different ways.

This blog is not going to be focused on only one thing. It is going to be a mixture of different writings and different places, also mixed with personal stories, my own writings and my own travels.

What is “PsychoRose“?

PsychoRose is a name that I have created specifically for this blog. The name that I would choose would have to be something that covers all of my interests and a name that sparks curiosity and a name that may give different ideas to people all based on the way perceive and understand it. Both the words Psycho and Roses are things that hold deeper meanings than the ones that people may actually understand.

Why create the blog?

As a young writer, I have a published book. I would like to express myself in different ways and different platforms. With creating a blog I would be able to fulfil my dreams gradually, and also benefit from all of your feedbacks.

What to expect?

There shall be writings from different authors, trying to understand the parts of the past that they deliver us.
I will be including my own writings.
I will be mentioning and connecting my writings to all the places I have traveled.
I will be sharing different pictures, and writing about my own travelings.
I will be connecting things from time to time with mental health.

Living and Traveling. Safranbolu!

Safranbolu, an amazing city typical ottoman city. It is a city in Turkey registered in UNESCO’s world heritage list. It is 231 km from the North of Ankara, and 90 km from the West of the Black Sea. Many tourists come and go to this amazing city. I had a chance to visit it and I was amazed!

It is one of those things that you feel like pinching yourself to reassure that you are not dreaming. The atmosphere, the amazing old-styled buildings, the wonderful and melancholic small roads are really indescribable.

A very interesting thing about this city is that we can see how even in the name of the city “Safranbolu” we see the name “Safran” which actually means “saffron”, and EVERYTHING there had saffron! Starting from shampoos, turkish “kolonyas”, wet wipes, sodas, rice, turkish delights and even turkish coffee.

In the center of Safranbolu there is a coffee museum, there is the place that I had the best coffee ever!

Safran Dibek Türk Kahvesi, the best coffee that you can have, aside with a saffron turkish delight and Turkish şerbet. Even the place is amazing, just look at this amazing view!

People were also very friendly, and if you want to visit a city where you want to feel like dissociating from the world for a short period, this is definitely the place to go. Even the hotels are in these small and beautiful old styles. Definitely a place to visit and enjoy!

Safranbolu Preview

Traveling and Living. Prizren.

Prizren is a city in Kosovo. A beautiful one to be exact!

Prizren is not Kosovo’s capital city, but it is declared as the Capital of Culture and History in Kosovo.

The whole city (which in fact is a small one) is all about history. It’s history is engraved in the every stone, every bridge and every wall in Prizren! It’s architecture has an Ottoman style, because the Ottoman Empire left it’s traces all around Prizren! It is the most important spot for tourism.

Prizren has a different feeling a different style from other cities in Kosovo. It is different in many ways. Even culture and language wise. They tend to be more traditional and in fact is home to many people with different ethnicities.

People there speak in Turkish! You can see the Turkish culture in Prizren and the people that come from there, having similar cultures and even clothing style. And all this is the impact that the Ottoman Empire left on this beautiful city!

This here is the view from the Castle of Prizren (Kalaja e Prizrenit) from where you can see and enjoy the wonderful view. This is a special remain from the Ottoman Era.

Another characteristic of Prizren is that it is a more religious city. Generally Kosovo is a secular state, does not have that much mosques even tho it has a population of 95% muslims, but Prizren is a very different story! Here you have a lot of Mosques and women in hijab (headscarf) are more common. The best times here are Ramadan nights, where it is the only city that has big changes for the Holy Month. It completely changes to a never sleeping city, where you can see everyone enjoying their time outdoors in the very late hours, even children playing around! It is amazing!

It is also known for the delicious restaurants and cuisine. Prizren’s Kebabs are very famous and people travel from different cities and even countries just to eat Kebabs in Prizren.

Prizren also has many schools, high schools and universities. Many go there for education.

You may have a glimpse of it’s beauty, but living it is a completely different experience!

You are Unique!

Yes you are!

There are many circumstances, many barriers that may pull a person down. But never give up!

A person must know that sometimes it is okay to feel tired, to feel fed up, that is not quitting or giving up, it just means that they need a break so they can come back stronger than ever and have a fresh start! Every person is unique on their own way!

Sometimes you may see someone going through things, sometimes you are the one going through things… but it is more than normal.

You have to understand your uniqueness, help those that are going through the low self esteem and most importantly help yourself because mental health is indeed something that you do not want to play with or neglect and push aside.

There are times where people leave their own selves to go after a path that has been walked a lot and try to be someone who they are not. But this does not make a person happy, that is not living…

Even though we should never do things that we do not like to go by societies rules, the society is actually a very good scale to self-measure yourself, your success!

People will always talk, no matter what you do, no matter how you act.

The only way that changes is the way they talk about you. As I have said in the quote, they will either praise you with a loud voice, or backbite about you whispering behind your back. These are minor things for the society, but things that have a great impact on a persons mental health. Because if you do not choose a break for your mental healthi your mental health will choose an unexpected “break” for you!

Choose your options, your actions and your words wisely…

Traveling is something that leaves a big impact on people and is very important on how a person grows to perceive the world. It also has a big impact on a persons mental health and stability.

Traveling has shaped me a lot as a person. I have seen it’s effect on people and their mentality. People who travel tend to be more open minded by the interactions that have to be made along the way and the fact that they get introduced to many cultures and mentalities.

In addition to traveling, a very helpful thing would be studying abroad. This helps to really observe and even get used to other cultures. Sometimes it is better to back up a little bit from your own reality, to go a bit farther, because not all things can be understood when you see them from near, only distance can make something clearer. Turkey/Istanbul will help you with that for sure. It is a very dynamic city, very cosmopolitan. Many cultures and languages indulged in a state, you will for sure fit in! It is a city which make your wishes come true, career wise or travelling wise. It is the ideal place to start your base of your career, but also an awesome place to have your honeymoon in!
